Hey everybody this is Dr. Andrew with Optimal Chiropractic. it’s back to school time at the end of the year, so I wanna just go over a few back tips that we recommend to our patients. one thing wrap for that is we always recommend never use just one strap. Should always 📍 use both straps. It’s gonna distribute the weight the best, for whatever’s in backpack.
and the other next thing we wanna, Sure. These straps are properly fitted as well too. right now I wanna just kind give an example of when you look from the side here, the, backpack itself starts to go below my hips. We wanna make sure that it’s up above the hips and it’s tight to the back. it’s simple as just technical straps up we can kinda see before and after.
And then you can see it’s above my hips there’s no way or no gap here between my neck and then the bottom, the top of the backpack there. it’s nice and tightly through there, as well too if you have any of these straps that go across. Definitely wanna take advantage of these two, these help support.
just distribute more weight. then takes a little more pressure off the back as well too. the other big thing is weight of the backpack should never be 10 to 15% of your child’s body 📍 weight. that does catch up pretty quick. You’d be surprised. these are probably the biggest tips I can get right away.
Off the bat, if you don’t do these things, you’re gonna tend to have a lot more pressure on your shoulders. A lot of slouching things like that, we’re just gonna help just keep your shoulders more rolled forward and hurt posture down only the shoulders, but in the neck as well too. make sure your children are doing this just building that good habit that’s gonna help, prevent a lot of things from happening posture related wise down the road.
