Welcome back! I’m Dr. Barney, here to bring you quick tips to boost your health and well-being. Today, we’re gonna talk about a simple but effective way to start your day—a morning mobility routine.

Mornings can be tough, especially if you wake up feeling stiff or sluggish. But incorporating a few minutes of gentle movement into your morning can make a huge difference in how you feel for the rest of the day. A morning mobility routine helps to wake up your muscles, increase blood flow, and improve your flexibility and range of motion.

The best part? You don’t need any special equipment or a lot of time—just a few minutes and a little space to move. Let’s go through a quick routine that you can do as soon as you get out of bed.

Start with neck circles. Gently lower your chin to your chest, then slowly roll your head to one side, bringing your ear toward your shoulder. Continue the circle by rolling your head back, then to the other side, and back down to your chest. Repeat a few times in each direction. This helps release any tension that might have built up in your neck overnight.

Next, move on to shoulder rolls. Lift your shoulders up toward your ears, then roll them back and down in a circular motion. Do this a few times, and then switch directions. This loosens up your shoulders and upper back, which can get tight from sleeping in one position.

Now, let’s do some spinal twists. Stand or sit up straight, and gently twist your torso to one side, keeping your hips facing forward. Hold for a moment, then twist to the other side. This movement helps to increase flexibility in your spine and can relieve any stiffness you might feel after waking up.

Finish off with hip circles. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and place your hands on your hips. Slowly circle your hips in one direction, making the circles as wide as feels comfortable. After a few circles, switch directions. This helps to open up your hips and lower back, areas that can often feel tight in the morning.

This simple routine takes just a few minutes but can set a positive tone for your entire day. It’s a gentle way to wake up your body, improve your mobility, and start the day feeling more energized and ready to take on whatever comes your way.
