Summer in the midwest means longer days, warmer temps, and more time to get outside and move—which is great! But it also means your body’s under a different kind of demand.
Hey, I’m Dr. Andrew from Optimal Chiropractic, and today I want to give you some smart, simple tips to keep your body moving well all summer long.
Whether you’re hiking the trails, playing beach volleyball, or just getting more active with the kids, your muscles and joints are likely being used more—and sometimes in new ways. That’s awesome for your health, but it also comes with a higher risk of strains, sprains, or reactivating old injuries.
Here’s what I recommend:
First—don’t skip the warm-up. Even if it’s just a walk or yard work, get your body prepped with some gentle movement and stretching. Your spine and joints will thank you.
Second—watch your footwear. Flip-flops might be easy, but they offer zero support. If you’re doing anything active, switch to a shoe that supports your arch and keeps your gait stable.
And third—listen to your body. If something feels off—tightness, pulling, sharp pain—don’t push through it. That’s your body’s way of flagging a misalignment or strain before it becomes a bigger issue.
One of the best ways to stay ahead of summer injuries is regular chiropractic care. Adjustments help keep your spine aligned, improve joint mobility, and speed up recovery so you can keep doing what you love.
Summer’s too short to spend sidelined. Let’s keep you feeling great and moving strong all season long.
